You Need a Vacation… So Stop Making Excuses Not To Travel!

Be honest with yourself. How many times have you thought to yourself “I need a vacation”? How many times this month? How many times this week? Yikes. Yet, despite your yearning for an overseas adventure or simply the opportunity to lounge around the pool for a week sipping cocktails and getting gorgeously tanned… You’re still here. Why? A flood of reasons probably spring to mind. Money is a little tight this summer. You’re not sure your kids are ready for international travel. There’s probably something else you should be spending your money on than a vacation etc. etc. etc.

These are all perfectly understood excuses, but they can keep you from living your best life. While we certainly wouldn’t recommend maxing out credit cards or getting your family lost in a black hole of debt to fund your travel habit, there are many reasons why you should make travel (especially international travel) a priority…

The world’s a big place, you deserve to experience as much as possible!

As much as we all try to make our own little piece of the planet as gorgeous, welcoming and safe as possible let’s not forget that there’s a whole lot of world out there! There are new and exotic cultures in which you can immerse yourself. Interesting and welcoming people to meet. There are architectural marvels and natural wonders. And food. So much delicious food!

One of the most common regrets of elderly people is that they wish that they had traveled more while they still could. You owe it to yourself not to be one of them.

We should spend our money on gathering memories, not possessions

Again, without promoting financial irresponsibility, many of us have our priorities a little skewed when it comes to how we spend our hard earned money. We inhabit a society that treats shopping as a leisure activity, and conditions us to believe that the path to happiness lies in accruing possessions.

The trouble with this is that possessions lose their value and our personal attachment to them fades. The memories we accrue on our travels? They last a lifetime.

Worried about overspending on vacation? Go all-inclusive!

Budget conscious families may balk at the idea of international travel because they’re worried about overspending while they’re away, especially if they’re using an unfamiliar currency. One way to offset this risk is by choosing an all-inclusive resort. Check out these Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club Reviews for an example of what we mean. This can be a great way of ensuring that you always have access to delicious food and drinks without any nasty surprises when you get home and check your bank statements.

Travel is invaluable experience for kids

Finally, if you won’t do it for yourself… think of your kids. Travelling, especially overseas, is invaluable experience for developing young minds. It can help them both in the classroom and the playground. It’s good for their cognitive development, confidence and social skills and can begin to imbue them with a host of skills which will be very useful to them in later life.
