Tips to pack more efficiently for extended travel

Packing can be hard. Not only is it a really boring task, but trying to whittle down your wardrobe into the essentials to take with you can be quite a tricky task. The more clothes you have, the harder it will be to decide what to take with you! Going away for a short weekend is quite easy to pack for, as you won’t need much. You might just need two outfits that fit into your carry-on. However, when you are going away for two weeks or more, packing can be quite the ordeal. You can’t take too many clothes and toiletries with you or else your bag will be too heavy and that could cost you when checking it in. But you still need plenty of things to get you through the two weeks.

If you always find packing for a two-week trip difficult, hopefully these tips will help you!

Use Quality Luggage

It’s always best to spend a little more on your luggage so that you know you are buying quality items. If you take a look on a site like Veolia Cargo, you will be able to see some reviews and get an idea of the best cases in the shops right now. Most of the upmarket cases will have plenty of pockets and sections so you will be able to pack more efficiently – you don’t just have to shove everything in the main compartment. Try to find lightweight luggage too, then you don’t have to worry about a heavy suitcase increasing the weight of all your clothes.

Pack Day-To-Night Outfits

If you pack some outfits to wear during the daytime and others for the evenings, you just won’t be able to shut your suitcase. If you do manage to close the case, there’s a good chance that it will be way too heavy. One way to get around this problem is to only pack outfits that you can take from day to night. For instance, some outfits will be casual enough to wear in the day, and can then look a bit more dressy with the addition of some sparkling jewelry.

Plan Outfits To Mix And Match

Rather than taking set outfits for each day, you should instead pack a few different pieces that can be worn with everything else in your case. You will then be able to mix and match your outfits. For instance, you might want to take a pair of jeans that will look great with a couple of the tops you pack. Then you can create multiple outfits from just a few items of clothing.

Pack Fewer Toiletries

Toiletries tend to pose a problem as they can be very heavy. One idea is to not pack any and simply buy some when you arrive at your destination. If that isn’t possible, you should look for smaller travel sizes that won’t take up too much space in the suitcase.

Hopefully, these tips help you pack more efficiently for a two-week trip!

I love these tips, but I’ll also add the roll method and the backpack method to this list. My family is taking a myriad of trips this year and every person is only allowed to take what they can comfortably fit into a backpack. I teach them to roll every clothing item which gives them more space to put more items in. But, one backpack is it!
