Time To Book That Winter Holiday?

If you’ve just got back from your summer holidays or perhaps you’ve not gone yet, but you’re already dreading coming back, then you need to get planning your next one. Winter holidays are fab, winter can be gloomy and miserable, so getting away is essential to keeping you sane. It doesn’t have to be winter sun either; there are some fab activities you can do in winter holidays too. Have a look at this list to get you in the mood:

The Canary Islands

If you’re looking for somewhere for the whole family and you want a sub-tropical climate, then the Canary Islands will be around 20°C. There are seven islands to choose from depending on your holiday style, and all of them come with inviting beaches and impressive volcanic landscapes. Choose from something-for-everyone Tenerife, glamorous Gran Canaria, rugged Lanzarote or surfers’ paradise Fuerteventura – the latter two are slightly cooler, but also drier.

Canada

Visiting Canada in the winter is fantastic, yes you get a very cold winter, but you also get to enjoy some of the world’s best ski resorts and experience an authentic winter wonderland. This time of year the cities are also quite quiet so you will be able to see most of the attractions without much queueing. As well as skiing you could also take in some Hockey and if you head to the northern parts of the country, the Northern Lights. Grab yourself an Airbnb, just remember that you might need to indulge in a bit of snow removal each morning before you head out. 

Madeira

If you want to get outdoors but don’t want to be too cold the Maderia could be the place for you. It feels like spring there in winter, and while there are some lovely beaches, there are some even better walks and hikes for you to enjoy in the island’s volcanic peaks. There’s plenty to do and plenty to see.

Cyprus

If you like a bit of history and culture, then Cyprus, with its divide of Turkish and Greek influence quite literally, of two sides. As one of the oldest civilizations in the Mediterranean, it’s steeped in myths and history, which means that aside from the beaches, there are plenty of ancient ruins to explore. 

Berlin

If you want to make the most of the joys of winter, then head to Berlin for a festive getaway as the German Christmas markets are a great place to visit during winter. Berlin is a city full of culture, history, and festivity and while the weather will be cold and crisp, so you can wrap up warm and enjoy exploring this beautiful capital with some of the free walking tours on offer to keep warm. On your walking tours, you’ll find out about the Berlin Wall which divided the city during the Cold War, as well as significant landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate and the Holocaust Memorial.
