Styling a Farmhouse Tray with Vintage Finds

Trays are one of my favorite pieces of decor to style – I love to put little treasures on display to create sweet vignettes! To style a farmhouse tray you need to place pieces that coordinate, whether it be in color, texture, or style. For everyday trays I like to use neutrals in shades of cream, like Ironstone, old books, and wood beads. Take a look at how I have styled my trays both for an everyday farmhouse look and seasonally for Christmas/Winter.

Three-tier white chippy tray

This tray is styled with old books, Ironstone, wood beads, a vintage ball jar and a cute little bird. This is styled for everyday or spring. To create this look you need to find lots of small and neutral or white color decor pieces to add to your tray. Small kitchen dishes like teacups and saucers work really well on farmhouse trays.

Here is the same tray, restyled for Christmas/Winter:

I styled this tray with galvanized houses, Rae Dunn, cement gnomes, vintage hymnals and some faux greens. You can check out this post on how I re-purpose old hymnal books into Christmas Tree ornaments. The key to this look is to make sure to add Christmas faux springs to really give it holiday charm.

Three-tier square wood tray

This tray is styled for everyday with Ironstone, old books, wood beads, and Rae Dunn. Perfect farmhouse charm with cream and neutral tones. Stacking old books is another great way to style a farmhouse tray with neutral tones. You can repurpose old books and tie them with a string to make them looks cute and farmhouse inspired.

Here is the same tray restyled for Christmas/Winter:

For a farmhouse winter tray I added some flocked greens, glass trees, mercury glass garland, and white little houses. Again, pops of Christmas green springs is key to this look.

Two-tier white chippy tray

This tray is styled for everyday farmhouse with a cement bird, Ironstone, wood beads, and some green glass. This tray is simple yet neutral and perfectly farmhouse inspired. I added some wood feathers inside one of the ironstone cups for added color and texture.

Black two-tier tray

This tray is styled for everyday/winter farmhouse with a few ironstone pieces, a vintage clock and tool, an old book, an old stamp, and a mini vintage flashcard. I added a lot of vintage pieces to this tray to really give it some pop. I love the black tray because the white pieces really stand out, and make the vintage treasures look super cute.
