Los Angeles, California

Let’s start off by talking about one of the most popular cities in not only the U.S. but the entire world: Los Angeles. This destination has become iconic in an international sense because it’s home to Hollywood. Films that have shaped cultures across the world have originated in this beautiful place. Of course, L.A. is an interesting city. When you explore Hollywood for yourself, you’ll find that not everything is as you’d expect when you peer behind the veil, but it’s utterly fascinating. Make sure you head up the Hollywood Hills to enjoy mesmerizing natural views and admire the city from a great vantage point. Head downtown for some delicious food at the Grand Central Marketplace too. Olio’s Pizzeria serves up some particularly delicious wood-fired pizzas. There’s so much more to do in L.A.!

Washington, D.C.

The capital of the United States is an interesting city because it functions in a world all of its own. It’s more than a city, in fact; it’s a district, and it’s the core of American politics. But that doesn’t mean it’s dull and lifeless. It means quite the opposite, in fact. For starters, some of the most iconic buildings and structures in America can be found in this fantastic city. Make sure you visit the United States Capitol. This exceptional building is a testament to the architectural prowess of humanity, but it’s also home to an intriguing aspect of American history. You also need to admire the towering structure that is the Washington Monument. It’s even more impressive in person. And, of course, the White House is well worth seeing on your visit.

Carlsbad, California

We’re back to talking about California already, and it’s understandable when this state is home to so many extraordinary destinations. In terms of iconic cities, we’re barely scratching the surface, but Carlsbad is definitely worth visiting at some point during your travels. It’s located in San Diego County, but it has just as much to offer as San Diego. It’s home to Legoland, for starters, but that’s only one of many draws to this great city. Make sure you collect some information online and check out the Carlsbad visitor center so as to get a full guide as to the things you should do there. There’s so much to explore.

Dallas, Texas

No visit to Texas is complete without seeing Dallas. This state is massive, and it’s no wonder that Texans see themselves as independent to the United States; it’s almost like a separate country. But if there’s one city that you’re going to explore in this vast state then it should be Dallas. Start off by visiting the gorgeous Botanical Gardens. The Arboretum and Botanical Gardens cover an astounding 66 acres of ground, and they have so much to offer to visitors of all ages. Everybody can appreciate the visual beauty of these stunning grounds. You should also visit the Sixth Floor Museum to see the spot from which John F. Kennedy was assassinated. It offers an incredibly educational look back at that shocking point in history.

San Francisco, California

We just can’t seem to stop talking about SoCal, but there’s much to do in the south of this stunning state. If L.A. wasn’t enough for you or you didn’t have time to stop in Carlsbad then make sure you find the time, at the very least, to see San Francisco. This city is the textbook example of good things coming in small packages. So much is packed into this space. Obviously, that’s not to say San Fran is tiny, but it is rather small when compared to many other megacities in the States. Still, whether you go to a baseball game in the iconic AT&T Stadium or stroll across the epic Golden Gate Bridge, you’ll never be short of awe-inspiring things to see and do.

Make sure you check out Alcatraz Island. It’s more than just an old prison with a fascinating history; it’s home to spectacular gardens. This small island with a complex and rather dark history has transformed into something quite beautiful. It’s visually stunning, and there’s plenty of magnificent creatures to admire here. An entire ecosystem has taken hold of the island. Back on the mainland, there’s still plenty to do, of course. Make sure you try out the cable cars. And visit the iconic Lombard Street if you get the chance. This zig-zagging road is lined with vibrant and mesmerizing floral arrangements. It might not be ideal for drivers, but it’s wonderful for pedestrians who want a great picture.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

If you fancy taking a trip to Pennsylvania then you need to explore the incredible city of Philadelphia. If you’ve ever seen the hilarious sitcom “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” then you might feel as if you’ve already seen all the majestic sights of the city (and learned a little something about the ‘character’ of this place). But there are plenty of hidden gems that many tourists oversee when they come to explore this wonderful destination. Make sure you head to the Valley Forge National Historical Park. It’s a spectacular outdoor wonderland. Of course, the beautiful natural views are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what this site has to offer. It also has great historical value, so you should definitely learn about its heritage.
