Six fun things to do when visiting California
If you find yourself needing to relax on vacation – and this time around it’s exploring the beautiful state of California, we have some great fun recommended activities for you. Here are some of the top things to do when visiting this amazing part of the United States!
And If you’re looking for a place to say then the Clarion Hotel by Humboldt Bay is highly recommended.
Yosemite National Park
The Yosemite National Park is great for those who want to bask in the fresh mountain air and have some jaw-dropping views to take in while you’re at it. The park is also known for its waterfalls but also the deep valleys and vast wilderness that inhabit the area. Camping is also extremely popular, so if you are a happy camper, then check out the park’s information about camping.
Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge is a spectacular man-made structure that is responsible for connecting San Francisco to California’s northern counties. With more than 10 million annual visitors, there’s likely to be crowds but plenty of opportunities to get a snap of this wonderful structure.
California State Railroad Museum
If delving into history is more your passion than a trip to the California State Railroad Museum might be of interest. The museum is located in Old Sacramento, so a hotel in Eureka, CA would be a good place to stop if travelling through. Experience the feats of engineering that have kept the Golden State steaming along for nearly 200 years.
Alcatraz Island
Experience the infamy of Alcatraz Island where the federal penitentiary operated from 1934 to 1963. The prison held infamous inmates such as Al “Scarface” Capone and the “Birdman” Robert Stroud which helped lead to the island’s notoriety. However, there’s more to it than just this period as you learn more about the iconic place before and after it’s significance as a legendary prison.
Hollywood Sign
If you love to follow celebrities, then you’ll find Hollywood is your calling. In particular the Hollywood Sign and the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. The Hollywood Sign is an American landmark and a cultural icon that overlooks Hollywood, Los Angeles in all its glory. Unfortunately, there’s no touching of the sign, and the closest you can get is above and behind it.
The Hollywood Walk Of Fame is situated down on Hollywood Boulevard and comprises of more than 2,600 stars that are awarded to those to honor those celebrities lucky enough to be recognized.
Napa Valley
Napa Valley is known for its wine tours, so if you’re a fan of the vino then this is one tour you should book yourself in for in advance. This region also produces some of the best wines so you’ll be only getting the very best, no matter what type of wine is your poison.
California can be enjoyed year around but the best times to go are between May to October to make use of all the beautiful beaches. To save money and avoid the crowds, November to early December is best so be sure to book which suits you best.
