Splash out on a new tub
Nothing quite brings down the appearance of a bathroom like a worn bathtub. Treat yourself to a new tub to help give your bathroom a fresh new look. Freestanding tubs are all the rage nowadays, although they do require extra space and extra money spent in plumbing. You could even opt for a snazzy whirlpool tub. Of course, if these options are out of your budget, there are plenty of other cool tub designs to look into (you can save extra money by buying second-hand, but a new tub will guarantee better quality). You’ll likely want to pay extra for delivery and installation and you should check that there’s a suitable access route into your bathroom.
Tap into new ideas
Investing in some new funky taps could also help to freshen up your bathroom décor. Waterfall taps can be a great decorative feature on your bathroom sink. Alternatives you may want to try some traditional Victorian taps if you’re looking for a retro feel. Replacing taps is a plumbing job that can be DIYed, but most people may prefer to hire a professional to install them.
Go neutral
Multicolored bathrooms are no longer in vogue. Whilst it’s personal choice as to whether you want a lime green bath tub and mustard yellow walls, opting for a colorful bathroom could harm the value of your home if you ever plan to sell. Neutral colours such as white, grey and black are a safe bet and give off a clean and modern feel. It’s possible to add accents of color via accessories such as shower curtains and toilet seats whilst still keeping a modern look – this could be something to consider if you want to add color but don’t want to affect your home’s value.
Update the accessories
Many people forget about the small accessories such as soap dispensers and toothbrush holders that can also contribute to the appearance of your bathroom. Try to keep to a scheme when choosing these to give your bathroom a cohesive feel. If you’re on a tight budget and can’t afford to do any remodelling, simply updating these accessories could have a significant impact on the look of your bathroom. That said, there are modern bath accessories out there with a luxury edge for those that want to go high end. You’ll know what is best suited to your bathroom.
Let there be light
Bathrooms tend to have few windows and can feel gloomy if there isn’t adequate lighting. Consider adding some brighter bulbs to your bathroom or add more lights to the room. This will help to give the room a fresh sparkle. Spot lighting is likely to give your bathroom a more modern feel, however track lighting is cheaper and just as effective at brightening up a room. You may also be able to make use of mirrors to help reflect light.
