Pop-Up Camper Mods and Hacks {Pop-Up Camping}

Pop-Up Campers are great for families because they close down small and open really big. But sometimes they don’t always make the best use of the space. However, there are so many small changes you can make to your pop-up! Thanks to some easy DIY pop-up camper mods and hacks, you can easily add more storage and convenient features to your pop-up camper! Take a look at these easy DIY pop-up camper mods and hacks that we have done to our own pop-up!

All camper mods and hacks are done at your own risk, Rain and Pine accepts no liability for any damage to your camper as a result of modifications or hacks. Modify your camper at your OWN RISK.

Adding Storage to a Pop-Up Camper Trailer Frame

This DIY pop-up camper modification takes just a couple hours and some ingenuity. You will need to purchase an inexpensive hitch mounted storage basket to do this hack. This hack may not work for every camper, measure your space and the storage basket and determine if you have sufficient space to mount the basket to the trailer before attempting this hack.

Adding Rug Storage to the Bumper of a Pop-Up Camper

This easy pop up camper mod requires a 6″ PVC pipe. This pipe is cut to the width of our camper. It holds a 5×7′ rug perfectly! We added pipe caps to the end, and installed metal handles to the caps for easy on and off. Now our dirty camper rug doesn’t have to be transported inside our camper anymore! To attach it to our bumper we simply used galvanized pipe strapping with self tapping screws to screw into the bumper.

Attaching a Grey Water Tank to the Bumper of a Pop-Up Camper

Having a grey water tank is super handy, but they are huge and hard to store. This hack is super easy, you just attach it to your bumper tire with the included hook and then strap it on tightly with ratchet straps. Easy!

Adding Hooks to the Ceiling of a Pop-Up Camper

This hack is fairly simple. Just buy some d-rings that will fold flat when the camper is closed, and screw into the roof with short screws. I hang organization baskets from these at each bunkend for everyone to hold their personal items!

Adding a Shelf Inside a Pop-Up Camper Storage Compartment

It is so much easier to store things with a shelf. Just use a nail gun, thin strips of wood as shelf brackets, and thin wood cut into the size you need for your shelf!

Converting a Pop-Up Camper Dinette into a Bed or Couch

We have 2 dinettes in our camper, one is very small and we needed an area for our youngest to sleep so we converted this dinette space into a small bed/couch. We simply cut a piece of plywood to size and notched around anything in the way, and notched the corner out so cords could reach the power outlet below!

Creating a Stacking Drawer System inside a Pop-Up Camper with Velcro

We use a system of bins to organize the camper. The clothes are in 2 large bins that stack. To add some stability to the bins we added Velcro to the sides so that when stacked they stay put!
