Modern Rustic Farmhouse Bathroom Makeover with Vintage Patina Tile Wallpaper

Bathroom makeovers are one of my favorite transformations because of how an ugly old room can light up with some simple changes. We recently finished a DIY wallpaper installation tutorial in our powder room with D. Marie Interiors wallpaper. The process was so easy and fast! Now that we are finished, it is time for the full reveal with before and after photos of our modern rustic farmhouse bathroom makeover!

Previously we had installed these DIY fixtures (the shelf, towel bar and toilet paper holder) but the bathroom still seemed like it needed a facelift. I wanted to brighten the space up with something more eye catching than just paint, so I decided to install wallpaper! The complete tutorial including which wallpaper this is can an be found on this post.

Here is the complete reveal of our modern rustic farmhouse bathroom!

In the bathroom we also changed the mirror by removing the builder grade oval mirror and replacing it with this farmhouse style wood framed mirror. Out went the old light fixture and in came this creamy chippy new farmhouse style light fixture.

We DIY’ed a new towel bar with wood and pipe, and added some faux greens in the space for color.

Even with all the updates to this bathroom, the wallpaper is by far the biggest change and made the biggest impact on the overall look. We absolutely love how this space turned out!

And we have even updated the faucet after writing this post – so our bathroom has even more farmhouse charm! The updated fixture is shown below on the right.

Wallpaper has gone in and out of fashion for decades with wallpaper of the past being expensive and difficult to install. Today, however, wallpaper can be an easy, affordable, room-refreshing DIY that anyone can tackle. My bathroom is one of those rooms that no one needed to look at. Dingy, boring, and an eyesore, its not something I enjoyed sharing. But after a complete DIY wallpaper installation our bathroom has been completely transformed into a bright and beautiful space that I welcome my guests to see!

And, after we completed the wallpaper in the bathroom, we even had some leftover pieces of wallpaper so we decided to use it in our laundry room. Our laundry room is also small and dark and had no charm or character, so we decided that adding the wallpaper would really refresh the space. The nice thing about wallpaper is that you can use leftover pieces on other projects as long as you line everything up properly.

You can really change the look of a room by adding wallpaper. Long gone are the days off difficult to install and remove ugly old wallpaper designs. Today’s designs are modern and simple to install, with colors that fit all different home interior styles.

There are so many wallpaper styles that work well for farmhouse style interiors, such as shiplap, wood, and more! My plan soon is to use the brick wallpaper to accent our bedroom wall. The bright white brick is gorgeous and would really bring some texture and light into the space. What space would you love to add wallpaper to in your home?
