Kraft Paper & Buffalo Check Christmas Wrapping Paper Inspiration

Wrapping presents for Christmas is one of my favorite things of all time. I love to layer paper with ribbon and embellishments – I think the time put into wrapping the gifts really shows the care and thought behind it. Don’t get me wrong, it is a lot of work, so I don’t wrap all the gifts this way, but I do try my best to have a couple for each kid wrapped special and placed under the tree. My favorite style for wrapping paper at Christmas currently is a simple and rustic Kraft paper and buffalo check combination. Last year I really enjoyed this style of wrapping as well, but wanted to share some additional ideas in this post. Take a peek at some ideas I had this year using Kraft paper and buffalo check to wrap Christmas presents below.

As with anytime I wrap Christmas presents, I pick a color theme and a few types of paper and ribbons and use only that when wrapping (to keep it as simple and easy as possible). For this years presents I selected Kraft paper with white snowflakes, black and white buffalo check, and a cream paper with silver printed trees. For the ribbon I selected a burlap and cream as well as a buffalo check. For embellishments, I decided to reuse some fresh greenery, cinnamon sticks, and pine cones I had left from my fresh flower arrangements I used for my holiday table.

When wrapping the presents, I try to contrast the ribbon with the wrapping paper so that patterned paper has simple ribbon so the present doesn’t look too busy. For example, the buffalo check paper looks nice with a simple ribbon like this linen ribbon. When I wrapped using the Kraft paper with snowflakes, I also used a simple ribbon like this burlap and cream ribbon. Again when I wrapped presents using the cream paper with trees, I used plain ivory ribbon. The cream paper with trees is also pretty paired with the buffalo check ribbon because the color contrasts so well. And for the embellishments – just have fun with it. Add a sprig here or there tucked int the ribbon, tape it on as necessary. Same with gift tags. I love to use wooden tags, but I also had fun with this little vintage “winter” flash card that I tucked into one of the gifts. Wrapping presents should be fun and creative! There are no hard rules here.

When you are wrapping presents there really is no right or wrong. Just be creative! I like to see how everything looks layered when I am finished, so I will display them in a random pattern under the tree. The combination of cream, black and white buffalo check, and Kraft paper really work well together – especially when creating a rustic and neutral holiday tree.

It is pretty simple to wrap presents to create a rustic and neutral holiday tree. Just find a few favorites and have fun mixing and matching and layering, being sure to add little simple and natural embellishments that you can find around your yard. Most of all, have fun!

Oh wow, your gift wrapping is amazing! I’ll be honest, I don’t put a lot of effort into wrapping gifts. We actually bought Santa bags for my boys last year and used them this past Christmas for the first time and it meant a lot less wrapping (and less paper) and they still enjoyed it. My grandma always has one gift wrapped like this for each of us with our “big gift” for the year, which made it even more special.
