How To Safely Throw A Party During COVID-19
Do you have any birthdays coming up? Or any other special events? If so, you might be thinking about throwing a party. In times gone by, this wouldn’t have been a problem, but as we are now living in the year of the coronavirus, party planning is a little more tricky than it used to be.
Now, you might decide to postpone your party. This could be the safest thing to do right now, as you do need to think about your health and that of your friends and family. However, as lockdown and social distancing restrictions are being loosened in some places, especially in those areas where cases of COVID-19 are dropping, you might still decide to go ahead. If you do, we recommend the following safety tips.
#1: Hold your party outside
The coronavirus can still be transmitted outside, but as there are fewer surfaces to touch, there is less risk than a party inside. Be sure to check the weather forecast then, as you will want to hold your party when the temperatures are warm outside.
#2: Tame your guest list
Now is not the time for large gatherings. The smaller your guest list the better, as you will reduce the chances of the virus being spread. Guidelines in most places suggest groups of ten people or less, so stick to the guidance given. Be careful who you invite too. It might be that you only stick with the people you have been quarantining with, but if you do invite others, rule out anybody you consider unsafe. We are referring to those people you know who have been less than careful with social distancing, as well as those people who are at higher risk of catching the virus.
#3: Follow safety measures
Social distancing should still remain in place, and so should the use of hand sanitizers. Masks should also be worn, despite the inconvenience. These are the safety measures you have been following already, of course, but instruct your guests in advance so they know what to expect.
#4: Avoid shared food platters
If you’re having a buffet, it’s inadvisable to let everybody pick from the same plates. Instead, encourage people to bring their own food to the party, or prepare food boxes in advance so everybody has their own. Alternatively, ask somebody to safely serve food to your guests using the appropriate utensils. This will stop people putting their hands where they shouldn’t.
#5: Provide disposable cups and plates
This something you might do anyway, as the less washing up there is to do, the better! However, to avoid the chances of germs being spread, you should provide disposable items that can be thrown into the trash after being used.
#6: Find ways to have fun
You can still play games at the party but remember social distancing rules. Check out these kids games, for example, if you are throwing a party for your children.
And you can still drink and get merry if you are having an adults party, but ask somebody to be in charge of serving drinks to avoid lots of touching. Bring in your favorite bottles of drink or hire something to spice up your party from Party Pony Trailers. After all, you don’t want to let the current pandemic ruin all chances of fun, but you do want to make sure everybody is safe at your party.
