Home Cooling Tips For The Summer
Now that we are in the middle of summer, the main challenge we are facing in the home is not saving energy on heating, but saving ourselves from overheating.
In the summer a lot of homes can become unbearably hot and there are several factors which can be the catalyst for this. In our obsession to save money on heating in the winter most of us insulate the home within an inch of its life and this can impact us once the summer comes around. If you have been spending all of your time looking at A/C capacitor info and electric fans to stay cool, hold on and let us give you some quick helpful tips.
Install ceiling fans
Ceiling fans are something which a lot of older homes used to have but not many newer homes seem to have at the moment. However, although ceiling fans can be a little bulky, they don’t have to look old fashioned and dusty, and they can be a great help in the summer. If you struggle to sleep in the summer when it is hot outside, installing a ceiling fan in the bedroom can be a great way to resolve this issue.
Dress light
As comfy as cotton pajamas can be all year long, during the summer time they can be stifling as they don’t let much air flow through your body. This is why changing to a night dress or linen pajamas is a wonderful idea and will make a huge difference to you this year.
Cool your skin
Although cold packs are most often used for soothing injuries, they can also be a great thing to have in your house during the hot muggy days of summer. If you are feeling far too hot in the summer time it is a great idea for you to have a cold pack ready to place on your skin to cool you down. A good idea would be to place it at the back of your neck since this will spread the cool to the rest of the body.
Eat cold meals
One of the things which has a big effect on our body temperature is the food we eat. If you want to make sure that you stay cool in the summer, a good idea would be to eat cold meals or avoid spicy meals. Make sure that you utilise batch cooking and make large batches of food which you can simply take out of the fridge and eat during the week. There are some amazing salads and cold pasta dishes which you should try this summer for a healthy, cooling meal.
Close the curtains
Although you may want to open every window in the house this summer to allow air to flow through the home, you will also want to shut the curtains. Keep the windows open however shut your curtains or blinds and this will allow you to keep the sunlight out of the home which would otherwise increase the temperature of your home.
