Great Gadgets For Smart Homes

The more tech we have access to, the more we can do to improve our everyday lives. Reduce our carbon footprint, be more eco-friendly and save a lot of money on our own energy costs.

Our homes can now be smart spaces. Looking after our energy uses, setting timers on the power sources, smart humidifiers, and even great security cameras. All controllable with an app on your phone. Living responsibility is made more accessible when we have these things at our disposal. And, sure, there is a spent initially, but the long term benefits are worth it.

Why Should You Go Smart?

Well, where one of these gadgets were the height of luxury, now most people have an Alexa or google home hub at their beck-and-call. If you aren’t really that interested in saving the planet, then you might be interested in the amount of money you could save when your smart gadgets are working together.

Lighting

If you are always kicking yourself because you have left your lights on. Then you might like to think about having some smart lights installed. You can control everything from your phone, and if you aren’t sure you have turned everything off, you can pop open your app and do it. You can combine your lights and security system with IFTTT – meaning once you close and lock the front door, all the lights automatically go off.

Voice Assistant

Siri has been part of our lives for a long time now, but now you can chat with Alexa and Google Assistant. They can answer questions, set up playlists, but they will also work in unison with your other smart appliances. You can turn your lights on and off, ask about your energy usages, thermostat and so much more. They take the effort out of having to look at a lot of stuff up.

Thermostats

Getting a thermostat that learns as it goes is a great idea. It means that over time, it will determine when you use heat when you run baths and employ that knowledge to save you money – by doing things automatically. Nest is one of the most commonly used smart thermostat options, and like all intelligent things, it comes with an app so you can control your temperatures anywhere in the world.

Appy

The great thing about smart appliances is they all come with the ability to work with apps on your phone. You might opt to use a full system, or you may choose separate smart appliances and use an umbrella app to run them. You can even get yourself a coffee machine that will brew a beautiful hot cup at the touch of a button. And, who doesn’t want to wake up to hot coffee?

It is worth remembering that if you do get smart appliances that you should aim to make the most of them, and set up specific cues that will trigger other things. For example, when the coffee machine starts the lights in the kitchen also go on.
