Florida Is The Ideal Destination For Penny-Pinching Vacationers
Going on holiday is expensive – well, usually. Even before you’ve handed over the money to the airline, hotel or tour operator, you’re already giving up your productive time – days or weeks you could have spent earning money and making yourself richer. Then, when you add all the actual costs of the holiday, taking a break in the sun is a lot more expensive than you first think.
Many people, especially in the US, however, are sick and tired of this state of affairs. They want to be able to relax and enjoy themselves without the price tag.
A lot of vacationers, therefore, are considering Florida. While it has its expensive hotspots, it is an enormous state with plenty of locations that remain off the beaten track. Furthermore, if you do decide to visit Disneyland, Sea Life or any of the other major attractions in Orlando and Miami, there are ways to get loads of money off.
Are you a penny-pinching vacationer? If so, then take a look at the following affordable Florida destinations, many under $300 per person.
Jacksonville Beach
Jacksonville is one of the largest towns in all of Florida, but because it’s far away from the “panhandle,” many tourists ignore it outright. The city, however, has not only areas with historical charm (great for sightseeing), but also its very own beach. What’s more, its position in the Gulf of Mexico helps to keep the weather warm and sunny, especially in the spring and early summer, outside of hurricane season.
Key West
Key West is part of an archipelago that stretches from the southern tip of Florida out into the Caribbean Sea. Not only is it a beautiful location, but it is also home to Disney Key West resort, and others, making it a great place to take the kids. While paying upfront for a holiday here is expensive, with services like DVC Magic Resales, you can lower the cost considerably. Furthermore, the earlier in the year you go, the cheaper the prices (and the smaller the crowds). Booking in January or February will net you the most substantial savings.
Fort Myers Beach
Fort Myers Beach is a popular destination for Florida tourists looking to save money on their next trip. The beach is close to a range of cheap, yet passable, motels and hotels, and offers excellent access to the nearby Captiva and Sanibel Islands.
For people who love saltwater fishing, it is a great location. You can rent rods and reel at the beachfront and collect bait for just a few bucks.
Bradenton Beach
Bradenton beach is a picture-perfect coastline that looks out onto a turquoise-blue tropical ocean. While the best time to visit is during the summer, you can still get some hot days in the winter months that allow you to strip off and wade through the water in your swimming costume. Just remember that the waters are still cold during January and February, even if the weather is hot.
Bradenton Beach offers plenty of amenities. Nearby, you’ll find a pier, boat tours, and plenty, low-cost beachfront rentals.
