A Farmhouse Cottage Christmas Home Tour

Christmas is one of my favorite seasons to decorate for. I love the bright white home decor, all the cozy cottage accents, the twinkle lights, and all the joy and cheer that surrounds this festive time of year. Decorating for Christmas for me usually means coming up with an overall theme and carrying it throughout the home. This year I decided to decorate in white, cream, dark green and natural wood tones to create a cozy neutral cottage farmhouse Christmas home. Throughout my home you will see that my decor consists of primarily these colors, including plenty of small dark green faux winter trees. You will be able to tour my farmhouse cottage style Christmas home, and I have teamed up more than 20 talented bloggers to bring you a Christmas Tour of Homes that you can check out at the end of this post! Here is a look at my farmhouse cottage style Christmas home tour, enjoy!

First, I want to take you through my entryway and into my front room, beginning with my front door where I kept it super simple with just a vintage sled and and a beautiful fresh green wreath on my porch. To see the porch even more decorated for the holidays, you can head to my Christmas front porch post. Open the door and your greeted by our festive farmhouse entryway.

In the entryway I layered lots of neutral farmhouse Christmas decor, using white, cream, black, and dark green colors. I am so glad we installed this DIY shiplap wall this year. It really makes for such a bright and welcoming space, and it creates a neutral background that works well with seasonal decor.

The simplest updates I made was to simply switch out non-holiday pillow covers with some beautiful seasonal covers from Linen & Ivory  code RAINANDPINE will save you 10%. To keep it cozy and neutral, the covers I selected are a neutral linen color with very simple farmhouse style designs on them.

Other changes I made to this space included hanging a beautiful neutral mercury glass garland above my entryway bench for texture and displaying a large white farmhouse Christmas sign. To decorate this foyer table I layered some galvanized mini houses with some vintage and antique finds, including a chippy corbel, vintage Christmas song book, and a couple brass candlesticks.

The items styled on my tiered tray include some with simple little pops of the holidays – a few faux evergreen springs, a winter candle, and some fun little vintage accents I found while thrifting like these little cement gnomes.

The next stop in my Christmas home tour is my front sitting room just off the entryway. I have another gorgeous farmhouse Christmas sign hung over the french doors.

In my sitting room I have also switched my pillow covers. I decorate with both faux trees and real Christmas trees, so the following photos show this room with our faux flocked Christmas tree, which I later moved into the living room and replaced with our real Christmas tree.

On the tree I have added a simple assortment of ornaments in a neutral palette, including a wood bead garland. I also have some great tips for decorating a flocked Christmas tree to help you create a neutral and gorgeous farmhouse flocked Christmas tree of your own.

On the table I set out an old antique dough bowl and put a couple of my favorite Christmas pillows inside, along with some pretty neutral faux green garland. I love this “All is Calm and is Bright” pillow so much I move it around constantly! To add even more coziness I have layered these light grey buffalo plaid pillows, they layer beautifully with the linen pillows and look so cute with the rest of the neutral cottage style Christmas decor in this space.

The tour continues down the entryway and into our living area – kitchen, dining room, and living room. For this tour I will be sharing the living room portion only, but you can view my Christmas dining room and holiday tablescape on this post.

To create a cozy and neutral cottage style Christmas home in this space I added yet even more linen pillows, some cozy throws, a few baskets with 4′ flocked trees, and completely redecorated the mantle. This is our first year enjoying our DIY shiplap mantle, the shiplap really makes for a beautiful and neutral backdrop for Christmas decor.

Another farmhouse sign, a few iron candle sticks, a vintage hymnal displaying a Christmas song, a chippy rocking horse and a couple mini faux flocked Christmas trees and greens complete this cozy Christmas fireplace mantle. And hanging from the mantle are all of our chunky knit cream stockings layered with a wooden initial for each member of the family.

Behind our couch I have added more flocked Christmas trees in various heights, and a farmhouse cart with another cozy linen pillow. I have also added some Christmas touches to the hutches, which you can take a closer look at for even more farmhouse Christmas decor inspiration.

Now my home is Christmas cozy and ready for the holidays! I hope you enjoyed this tour of my cottage farmhouse Christmas holiday home. You can shop some of my favorite decor from this post and tour the other amazing holiday homes below.

Such a gorgeous home! I love that mercury glass garland and how you placed pillows inside a bread bowl, I would have never thought to do that and it works really well! I like the wooden bead garland on your tree, too! Enjoyed doing this fun holiday blog hop with you! 🙂

When the season gets hectic and I tire of the hussle and bussle, I will come back again and look at your beautiful serene and natural tour. I seriously love everything about it. I think I looked at each picture for like 2 minutes! I just want to sit in one of those chairs and never leave looking at all the flocked trees. Merry Christmas

Bree, your home looks like it’s ready for a national magazine feature! It’s so beautifully decorated and has such charm even before adding Christmas decor. You have a professional touch. The Simply Too Shabby signs are adorable. I’ll have to check those out. I also picked up some decorating ideas for a three-tiered tray that I own. I’m thrilled to be joining you on this hop later in the week!

Bree, I’m so in love with your house and decor! Everything speak directly to me, but I’m particularly smitten with the open hymnal and your mercury glass garland. I also love your white hutch and white shutters. Thank you so much for taking part in our Christmas Tour of Homes 2018!

Bree – I love, love, love your home! And it’s even more stunning decorated for Christmas. I may have to steal the open hymnal idea – being musicians, we have about 5 or 6 laying around – why haven’t I thought to include those before? Genius!!

And I have the same Lynch Creek Farm wreath – it’s so perfect on your front door. Oodles of inspiration here, my friend!
