Exploring a small town – a true Canadian experience

Canada is vast. It’s an incredibly large country, but it only has around 37 million people. It doesn’t have that many large cities but it does have many small towns. With so much space and so few large havens of people, you would think that life would be a bit strange compared to other developed nations. Well, that’s where you would be wrong because the small towns are actually what makes Canada so unique. It gives travelers and holiday guests, a chance to explore the country at their own pace. You won’t be running into fellow tourists, you won’t be taken aback by a new sightseeing opportunity every other minute. Really, it’s just a chance to relax, enjoy the landscape, be at one with nature and take life slow. One such small town is Airdrie and despite it’s 61,000 population, there’s a lot to do.

Less bother, more choice

When you travel to a small town in Canada, you are probably looking to avoid the general style of hotels. You want something that’s more cosy, simpler and gives you a lot more control over the quality of your stay. Well the Comfort Inn is a hotel in Airdrie which offers this kind of experience. It’s around a 15 minute drive from Calgary International Airport which makes it easy to get to. However you have fiber-optic Wi-Fi along with individual routers for each room so there’s absolutely no disturbance to your internet. The decor is also modern with warmer colors being used such as orange, beige and lime greens. There’s also a complimentary breakfast with your stay so you can fill up on hot bacon, sausages and fried eggs for a busy day.

Small town, big heart

As with many small towns all around Canada, you get some really good mom&pop restaurants which you can eat in. one of them is Paul’s Pizza. With an amazing 4.4 star rating on Google Reviews given overall by 740 individual reviewers says it all. Here you can find amazing deep dish style pizza. They do not skimp on the toppings here at all. You get a full meal on one plate. It’s hot, juicy and the taste of high quality produce is clearly present. However it’s not just pizza which they serve, but smoky ribs, creamy cheese pasta, bowls of fresh meatballs with sauce and cheese, along with skewered meat on beds of rice to name a few other options.

100 years of history

Nose Creek Valley Museum harbors some of the unknown history of this part of Canada. Inside there are some stuffed wildlife animals which represent the dangers but also the beauty of this landscape. Agriculture is a big part of Canada, so farming equipment of old such as the very first tractors are on display here. However there are also famous hockey and baseball player jerseys on show too.

The small towns of Canada are places you go to just relax and get away from the world. They are quiet, filled with hearty restaurants and they have plenty of history to learn about.
