Bring Warmth Into Your Home for Fall and Winter
Winter might be a while away, but fall is quickly approaching. When it starts to get cooler, even if you live somewhere that doesn’t get too hold, your home becomes your refuge. It’s the place where you can warm up and shelter in the evenings and cooler mornings. Turning on your heating (or maybe even lighting a fire) will bring warmth into your home, but it’s not the only way to do it. You can also help your home to feel warmer in the way that you decorate and furnish it. Some new accessories could make it a cozier place for the fall and winter. If you want to bring warmth into your home for the colder months, try the following tips.
Add Some Fluffy, Furry Accents
Real fur might be a no-no, but fake fur is certainly acceptable to many. Shag carpeting might be a bit of a ’70s trend, but you can still add some fluffy shag and faux fur to your home during the fall and winter. They make everything look cozy and provide some texture to rooms like your living room and bedroom. Try a faux fur rug or a fluffy pillow or throw on your sofa. Not only does it look good, but it feels great too. Sitting there and petting a fluffy home accessory is almost as good as having a cat or dog to pet – although, not quite.

Use Seasonal Scents
Some of the best things about fall and winter are the scents that you might experience during the cooler months. Pumpkin spice, bonfires, freshly-baked Christmas cookies, and more can make you feel comforted and at home. Your sense of smell has a strong connection with your memory, so catching a sniff of one of your favorite smells can also remind you of some fun times. You can bring seasonal scents into your home through candles, diffusers, wax melts, air fresheners, and even doing some seasonal baking.
Get Some New Lighting
The light in your home can make a big difference to the atmosphere and ambience. Some warm lighting when it’s not so warm outside can be comforting and make your home feel more homely. Putting in some new lights could mean new bulbs or lampshades, but you could also consider new lighting fixtures. An electrician service can install new lights for you, giving you lighting fixtures that look good even when the lights are turned off. Dimmer switches can be a good idea too, enabling you to have more control over the level of lighting. Try adding a few lamps for an easy solution too.
Bring Nature Inside
Sitting inside is often where you want to be when it’s cold out. But you can also bring the outdoors into your home if you’re someone who loves nature. There are a few ways to do this, depending on what type of look you want to create. You might like some nice green plants in your home, brightening up the place when it’s not so bright outdoors. Or you might have some fall motifs, such as pine cones or even some colorful leaves. You can use items from outside to make centerpieces for your dining table and other decorations.

Snuggle Up with Some Pillows and Throws
Being able to get comfortable indoors when it’s cold outdoors is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Whether you have a fireplace that you can curl up in front of or you just put a fake fire on the TV, lots of comfortable pillows, throws and blankets can make your home cozy and warm. Use them in your living room, in your bedroom and even outdoors if you have an area like an enclosed porch. As well as making your home feel cozy, they will add more layers to your furniture.
Dress Up Your Windows
Try dressing up your windows during the fall and winter too. A good pair of curtains will make a room look warmer and can also help you to keep in the heat, especially if you choose thermal curtains. On top of thick curtains, you could dress up your windows for the season with some ornaments or window decorations. Window stickers could be fun to play with, or you could hang decorations on the frame. The window sill is also the perfect place to put some seasonal decorations or ornaments.
Bring some warmth into your home for the fall and winter by making everything look and feel cozy. Even when it’s cold outside, you can feel warm and toasty.
