A Simple, Silly & Spooky Halloween Front Porch
Most of fall the porch is adorned with autumn vibes – but the week of Halloween the porch gets a spooky makeover. I like to keep it simple, silly, and spooky! To keep it simple and silly I use skeletons doing silly poses and spider webs all over, and to make it spooky I add tons of bats. It is perfect for an easy farmhouse or cottage style Halloween porch. Take a look at our simple, silly and spooky Halloween porch and get inspired to create your own fun Halloween porch!
In true Halloween spirit, these photos were taken at night. This whole set up took about 20 minutes – it’s very simple! You need a full size skeleton, spider webbing, and paper bats. A cute sign and some pumpkins also add to the scene.
This life-size skeleton makes it look creepy and cool – and to make it silly just add props! You can do pretty much anything with a life-size skeleton and the scene will become pretty funny. This year, Jon Bone Jovi as I have named him, is overindulging in some booze as he haunts the porch. Don’t forget to pose him, this year he is laughing historically. At what though is anyone’s guess!
Now all around him, since he’s been dead quite a while, is a giant mass of spider webs. Stretch and pull the webs everywhere like crazy! The more stretchy and crazy the spookier it will look!
Now, add some bats! These paper bats are awesome, I use them all over the house with some removable sticky squares. I flip them over since I prefer the solid black side, and make them look like they are flying away from one central point.
I always like to have a themed sign on my porch, so I use my favorite Oh Sweet Skye sign for this themed porch. Its cream with aged wash and blood splatters, black lettering, and a dark stained frame.
Halloween can be so silly and fun and spooky – but also is a great time for front porch decorating! What other time of year do you get to fill your porch with creepy things like spider webs and skeletons? My kids always have so much fun when we decorate our front porch for Halloween. I think Halloween might be my kids favorite season for front porch decor just because it is the most fun. I know I enjoy decorating a silly and spooky front porch!
This porch not only is truly fun – but it also stays true to my love for neutral home decor, even for Halloween. Colors remain mostly black and white (I opted to skip too much of the orange) to keep it simple and neutral. Neutral home decor is how I like to decorate since I love farmhouse style homes, so I love that I was able to pull together this silly, spooky, and simple Halloween front porch true to my farmhouse style.
There you have it, a simple, silly and spooky Halloween front porch that anyone can do in just 20 minutes! Happy Halloween!

I love the skeleton with his tequila. Definitely something I will be doing when we have a front porch! It’s always great when houses decorate for halloween.

That right there are goals! We usually just place a few pumpkins on our porch. Thinking about it now maybe that’s why we get so few kids lol.

This is my favorite front porch I’ve seen this year! I love how playful it is while still being stylish. Absolutely perfect.

This is such an awesome setup! We don’t do a lot of porch decorations because our weather is usually not great this time of the year. This will be our 5th Halloween in Houston and it’s been rainy, windy, and cold every year.
