A Simple Farmhouse Inspired Fall Tablescape

Setting a table this fall doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive. All you need is your favorite plates, a fabric table runner and napkins and a few faux sprigs! I like to keep my fall tablescape neutral and natural in color with subtle hints of fall. For this tablescape I use a linen color runner and linen napkins with simple wreath designs, and just top the setting off with faux lambs ear picks.

I’ve teamed up with a group of super talented bloggers to bring you tons of gorgeous fall tablescape inspiration. After taking a look at my post, head over to my friend Kristi at French Creek Farmhouse to view the tour schedule and find all the other awesome tablescapes!

Firstly I will point out that some of the place settings have plain plates and others have ones that say “EAT.” We have 3 children in our home and I prefer to set their seats with plain dishes. When you set your table, feel free to mix your children’s dishes in as well – or use all matching if that is your preference. Either way, its sure to be gorgeous with just a few simple touches!

I always use a table runner when I set a tablescape. I like to have our wood table showing under the settings, and so I never use a tablecloth. Neutral is my favorite, and this linen table runner from Living with Amanda is hands down one of my favorite runners to use for fall (actually year-round!) The lambs ear wreath is such a beautiful muted green, it goes perfectly with my neutral farmhouse table settings! Amanda is such a sweet friend, she has given me a code to share with my readers – RAINANDPINE10 to save you 10% on your order!

Next I lay out the centerpiece. I like to use a simple garland, a couple candles and a few faux pumpkins. For this tablescape I used a faux eucalyptus garland because the table settings used lambs ear, I wanted to use a different, darker leaf garland for the centerpiece for some contrast.

I love green and cream faux pumpkins, you can see how I decorate my home for fall using them in this post!

Next, I place chargers in each place setting. I fell in love with these bleached wicker chargers and use them so much – they are perfectly neutral and add a bit of texture to the setting. On each charger I layer 2 plates for added dimension.

There are several ways to style napkins for your tablescape. These beautiful gather cotton wreath napkins have such a gorgeous design I wanted to display them without covering the design. The best way to do this is to fold your napkin similar to a tea towel and then lay it flat between the two plates so that the design peaks out completely from the plates and greets your guests.

I like to have a little variety on my tablescape for added interest by alternating napkins. I use plain napkins that match the printed napkins at every-other place setting.

The center place settings are also slightly different. While most of the settings have a single lambs ear pick topping the plate, the center place settings have a lambs ear mini wreath. Again, a little variety just adds dimension and interest to the table.

The tablescape is really very simple, with just a few layers and everything in a neutral color palette.

Remember, setting the table can be easy and simple – Just choose a simple color palette and use a few necessities like a runner, napkins and some faux greens and your all set!
