A Neutral & Floral Cottage Style Spring Fireplace Mantle

This Spring I wanted to add touches of fresh greens to our newly renovated fireplace mantle. Previously, our mantle was too small to accommodate potted plants, but now thanks to our large DIY rustic beam mantle I can layer several items and display larger pieces such as real potted plants. Styling a mantle is simple when you just add things you love! I love large framed signs and potted plants so I played around with a couple of my favorite pieces and created this look for my mantle. In addition to styling the mantle I styled the whole fireplace hearth to add even more charm to our cottage farmhouse style home. Take a peek at my cottage farmhouse style Spring mantle below!

This fireplace was a complete DIY – check out How to Build a DIY Brick Fireplace Hearth with a Shiplap Accent Wall & Rustic Wood Beam Mantle for the complete guide to building this fireplace!

Starting with the top of the mantle, I layered a favorite sign from Oh Sweet Skye, along with one of my favorite art prints. I staggered them so that together they are centered but neither one is exactly center alone. For reference, the Oh Sweet Skye sign is 34×26″ and is in the olive with white wash color and darkest stained frame. The bicycle print I bought is no longer available but I have linked a similar one here. On either side of the art I placed real indoor plants in terracotta pots. In the center of the mantle I placed a favorite small faux green in a terracotta pot.

Next to the fireplace I have a beautiful blanket ladder to add some charm and warmth.

Below the mantle, on the fireplace hearth, I styled the bricks with some vintage crocks and a vintage milk can. I try to balance areas that I decorate by having things on both sides, but to mix it up I use different items in different amounts on either side. One side consists of 3 vintage crocks while the other side has one large milk can. All in various shades of cream. Here I also have some birch logs (since it is a fireplace I find it fitting), topped with a beautiful spring pillow and some more terracotta pots layered with faux green plants. *Please note that I move anything flammable or that would be hurt by heat from the fireplace before use.*

On the other side of the fireplace I have a farmhouse style laundry basket with more cozy blankets and another spring pillow.

With the use of lots of fresh and faux greens, spring pillows and signs, and some vintage pieces this Spring mantle is complete. Here is a look at the whole space!

In the rest of this room I have some favorite decor pieces, like my area rug and tufted ottoman. I like to make the room as cozy as possible with lots of poufs, throw pillows and blankets as well. You can see how I styled this room for Winter using the same ottoman and rug here. All together this room is pulled together by continuing the neutral color theme throughout the space and just adding pops of real and faux greenery, faux florals and the color green to give it that Spring touch.
