A Cozy Fall Farmhouse Family Room

Our family room is my favorite room in our house mostly because there is no TV and its southern facing so its always bright and warm and cozy. I’ve styled it with farmhouse cottage charm, and love to update it seasonally. For fall I spruced it up with some pumpkins and cozy pillows, a new rug and a chippy lantern. We love to come in here and play games, read, or just sit and enjoy quiet time. It really is our little oasis in our home! This fall to cozy it up while keeping it neutral I added tons of neutral farmhouse pillows, some faux greens, and some vintage touches. Take a peek at my fall farmhouse family room!

Pillows are key to my seasonal decor. They are so simple, yet can tell your story. I always choose seasonal pillows that have farmhouse charm and use linen and neutral colors. I also love grey and buffalo plaid and layered them to create this look.

All the pillows in this room are from Linen & Ivory, and are 20″ in size. Code RAINANDPINE will save you 10%. I love how the use of some pillow covers with simple script fonts layered over a simple farmhouse wreath pillow looks so cozy. The grey buffalo plaid are also so perfectly neutral and cottage cozy!

I’ve fallen in love with this chippy and rusty lantern – I love how large and perfect it is for a cottage style room! The mixture of galvanized and wood really give it some vintage cottage charm.

It’s amazing how a few simple changes can really transform a room! Here is a peek at how I had the room decorated for fall before changing the rug and pillows. It is ok to update a room a few times in a season, especially when you love decor as much as I do!

I often update the items in my vintage white hutch as well. I share a close up of how I like to decorate my hutch in this post, and you can see how I style my hutch for Christmas, too! This “Warm and Cozy” pillow layered with this “farmhouse pillow” look so charming and sweet on my linen chairs.

I changed out the rug to an 8×10′ vintage distressed pastel rug which really added some light color and fun texture to the room. The colors of the rug are still very neutral, but with a subtle hint of color.

Centered on the rug is a vintage round coffee table I found while thrifting. I love how much character this table adds to the room. The pop of this rustic wood tone stands out among all the cozy white pieces I have styled here.

I also stacked some real pumpkins on the table as a centerpiece. These are the fairytale pumpkins, I love the sweet character they add to the room. I layered them with a faux eucalyptus garland.

Even though I love this space so much, refreshing it each season is so much fun! Decorating for Christmas in this space is one of my favorites.
