6 Important Aspects of Your Health You Shouldn’t Take for Granted

Appreciating what your body does for you every single day isn’t always high on your priority list. You have to admit that you carry on with your daily routines without thinking twice about the amazingly clever chemical reactions that are working tirelessly inside your body. Living a healthy and energetic life is down to your one and only body, so you definitely shouldn’t take it for granted. Sometimes you’re way too hard on yourself and don’t love your body like you should. Indulging in one too many wines or turning to chocolate when you’ve had a bad day isn’t necessarily the best way to treat your one and only source of power. It is so important to take note of certain aspects of your health, whether you’re trying to combat anxiety or assess other areas you hadn’t thought about before. It is so important to take note of any changes in your health so that you can continue to thrive in everything you do. Consider some of the following important aspects of your health that you shouldn’t take for granted.

1. Your Eyesight

Waking up in the morning and seeing blue skies outside is something you take for granted. Although it may not be blue all year round, you still need to appreciate the fact that you can see the clouds and the drizzling rain too. If your eyesight isn’t so great right now, you’re probably going to notice it more than ever, especially if you have never had a problem with your eyes before. You may want to consider booking in for an eye appointment and browsing a popular range of round glasses. Nowadays it’s pretty chic to wear glasses, so it wouldn’t be a huge lifestyle change. Eye tests will not only make sure that you’re wearing the right prescription, but they will also ensure that your eye health is on top form.

2. A Healthy Mind

Like many people right now, you’re probably worried about developing a mental health problem at some stage in your life. So many people suffer and it goes unnoticed, so you would never want your friends or family to endure this at all. Checking in with your own mental health from time to time is an extremely healthy thing to do, especially during times of uncertainty. You may start to pick up on patterns in your behaviour if you become triggered by a certain situation. If you are worried about having a healthy mind it is so important to speak to somebody you trust. A mental health professional will also be able to guide you in the right direction so that you always feel supported no matter what.

3. Your Heart

A healthy and happy heart is maintained using a number of different techniques, from the food you eat to your weekly exercise. You might not realize how important heart health is until you get a little older and start to feel tired more easily or you experience chest pains when walking for long periods of time. Once your heart and arteries become clogged with cholesterol and other dangerous things, it is very difficult to reverse. This is why you need to have a long term approach when it comes to your heart health. Try to eat a varied diet full of vegetables, whole grains and fibre; steer clear of alcohol and sugary foods whenever you can. Obviously it is very difficult to avoid these things altogether, so opt for the classic 80/20 approach, in which you eat healthily 80% of the time; the rest of the time you can relax a little and enjoy some of the more fun things in your stash! Make sure you are incorporating regular exercise into your week as well. Around fifteen to twenty minutes a day will make sure you have hit your target for the week, so even if you take a lengthy walk during your lunch break or get off a stop earlier on your way to work you will be contributing positively to your overall heart health.

4. Your Gut

Gut health isn’t the most glamorous topic to talk about but it’s very important nonetheless. Your gut processes and breaks down food so it needs to be in full working order to function well. Fermented foods such as kimchi and probiotic yoghurt will help your gut stay gorgeous!

5. Your Joints

When you’ve been sitting down too long, your joints can quickly stiffen up and start to ache. There is nothing worse than clicking and wanting to stay still just in case you pull something. Undertaking mobility exercises throughout the day should prevent you from seizing up too quickly and it will help your joints to stay supple. You may also want to eat foods such as cherries, turmeric, cabbage and broccoli to assist your joint health.

6. Your Skin

Nobody in the world will have the exact same skin type as you. Believe it or not, that up and coming trend that your favourite celebrity is endorsing, probably won’t work on your complexion. This is because your skin is completely unique, so you need to do what’s best for you. Speak to a dermatologist if you’re struggling with your skin health, whether you’ve got eczema or uncomfortable moles, they will be able to advise you on the next steps to take. Don’t take the health of your skin for granted; take care of it as much as possible and you will look and feel so much healthier.

You deserve to live a healthy, happy and fulfilled life without running into any issues with your body, skin or mind. The only person who can make these changes is you. Relying too heavily on your body to carry out certain tasks that you’re not fit for, won’t reward you in the long run. Make sure you keep a firm eye on any symptoms and seek medical advice as soon as possible. Once you start honing in on your body and how it functions you will be thriving, not just surviving. So take note of all the ideas above and make sure you never take your health for granted again.
