5 Easy ways to make your home a more positive space
Your surroundings have a big impact on your mood and if your home isn’t a very positive place to spend time, it can really get you down. Sometimes, your home isn’t a very comforting and welcoming space because it’s a little run down and it just needs a bit of a makeover, but more often than not, it’s because you’re making some mistakes with your decor. If you’re feeling a bit down lately and you think that your home might be a contributing factor, you should make these simple changes to bring more positive energy into your home.
Clear Out Clutter
When your home is always messy and cramped, it doesn’t have the relaxing, positive atmosphere that you want it to have. Possessions carry a certain emotional weight with them and when you have loads of junk lying around, it can increase feelings of stress and anxiety quite a lot. That’s why it’s a good idea to clear out some of the clutter from your home. You’ll open up a lot of space and make the home feel tidier and more comfortable. It’s also a good way to let go of things in the past that may be dragging you down and start a new, more positive chapter of your life.
Clearing out clutter can seem like a very daunting task, especially if you’ve been letting it pile up for a long time. But if you do it one room at a time and take it slowly, you’ll realize that it isn’t as much work as you think. When you’re going through each room, you should look at the items in there and think about the last time that you used them. If it’s something that you don’t use that often and it doesn’t have much sentimental value, just get rid of it.
Embrace Feng Shui
Feng shui is an old Chinese concept based around positive energy in your living space. The practice teaches how to arrange furniture and set up rooms in such a way that they encourage the flow of positive energy. There are a lot of simple feng shui mistakes that people make which make their home feel incredibly negative. Things like facing furniture away from the door or using different types of flooring throughout disrupt the flow of energy through the home. It’s worth learning more about feng shui and adopting some of the practices in your home if you want to create more positive vibes.
Put Up Family Photos
When you’re choosing wall decorations for your home, you could pick canvases with stock photos on them, but it’s a lot better to choose some family photos instead. If your home is decorated with great family memories that bring a smile to your face every time you see them, your home will be a far more positive place. Get some great photos together and display them in some vintage frames around the house and you’ll find that you feel a lot more positive when moving around your home.
Pick The Right Colors
The colors that you choose in your home have a big impact on the atmosphere so you need to choose wisely. If you’re using a lot of dark colors or plain boring ones like beige and white, they don’t really inspire that much positivity. It’s far better to use bright, fun colors around the house if you want to create more positive vibes. You should also think about what your favorite colors are and try to use those as much as possible.
Increase Natural Light
Dark rooms have a very negative atmosphere and artificial light doesn’t help that much. If you don’t have any natural light at all and you’re relying solely on artificial light all of the time, the rooms can feel quite stuffy and claustrophobic, that’s why you need to get as much natural light into the home as possible. In some rooms, it’s not too difficult because they already have a lot of light but in others, you’ll have to work a little harder. If you have any trees or bushes outside that are blocking the sunlight, it’s a good idea to cut them back and get more light in. The way that you arrange the furniture has a big impact as well so consider the way that the light falls in the room and place furniture in such a way that it doesn’t disrupt the flow of light. Choosing reflective materials like glass and mirrors in a room can make a big difference as well.
These are all simple ways to increase the positive vibes in your home and make it a more welcoming place to be.

Natural light would be nice. I just wish I could find a better way to get it in the room. And for sure you have to clean out the clutter first. Find things you will get rid of.

I’d love some natural light but I live in a basement apartment so I take advantage of LED day light bulbs. Not as great as artificial light but it gets the job done.
