So you’ve decided to take a trip to Chicago and are wondering how to make the best of your time there? With so much to offer, you might find it tough to squeeze everything into one trip! To help you out a little, these four are well worth putting on the top of your to-do-list.

The Art Institute

Art lovers will delight at the Art Institute located in downtown Chicago. Here you’ll find a truly stunning collection from all over the globe. Spanning many different centuries and styles, it’s easy to get lost in the world of art here! From Impressionism by Monet to African Diaspora by Archibald Motley JR; there’s much to delight your eyes and senses. The museum has ample exhibitions and events depending on the time of year that you attend. Right now you’d catch a fabulous Andy Warhol exhibition, for instance.

Willis Tower

Willis Tower is a very popular attraction, largely due to its sky deck offering some truly amazing views. The most impressive (and perhaps terrifying) is ‘The Ledge’- a glass balcony on the 103rd floor (extending 4 feet outwards). The Ledge is an astonishing 1,353 feet up and part of one of the tallest buildings in the world (it makes number 8 on the tallest buildings list)! The Ledge was inspired by the prints that many visitors left on the windows each week. People often pressed their heads and hands against the glass to see the views below. Here you’ll find a spectacular view of four American states including Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois.

Millennium Park

Millennium Park is a vibrant, truly Chicago spot right in the heart of the city; you’ll find a bustling atmosphere of both tourists and locals. There’s gorgeous architecture and plenty of free concerts, tours and events. You might find art markets, poetry readings, or celebrations to turn on the Christmas tree lights. Stroll amongst quaint gardens or take a park tour to learn about the history. For a charming activity for all the family– the park is the place to be.

Those who prefer to stay somewhere outside the hustle and bustle of Chicago should check out Glendale Heights, Illinois. For a hotel near Woodfield Mall take a look at Ramada. The hotel has some excellent amenities such as a heated indoor pool, a complimentary hot breakfast and a business centre for those travelling for work. Woodfield Mall is the perfect place for shopping, eating or even taking in some entertainment at the Improv Comedy Club.

Get to the theatre

When in Chicago, you’ll want to get yourself to the world-famous Chicago Theatre and see what takes your fancy. The theatre offers some excellent theatre tours during the day before you get your performance fix later on. With so many varied types of entertainment on offer, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Put on your best clothes, reach for the popcorn and don’t forget to take some photographs outside the world-famous theatre doors.
