3 Home Makeovers Ideas You Haven’t Even Considered

Giving your home a much-needed makeover need not mean extensive renovations or redecorating every inch of your house. While most people may look at the kitchen or the bathroom and decide that they need to modernize, there are other areas of your home that can look just as shabby over time if neglected. Here are three things to consider when deciding on your next makeover project.

Stairwells and Corridors

If every room in the house is stunning and thoughtfully designed, but the connecting hallways are abandoned, then your home will not flow correctly, and each room will feel disunited from its counterparts. This is why Designed Stairs or corridor makeovers are a must for anyone looking to freshen up their home. A new stairway can create the feeling of a rustic country house or elegant regality. It can also affect how you and any guests may navigate a house. A winding stairway up to an open plan living space could seem inviting, whereas a stairway that butts up to the front door may feel imposing. Consider the layout of your corridors and any shadier or darker spots that can be brightened with windows or mirrors. Think as well about how you may want to navigate from room to room. Open plan living may also be an option that removes the corridor spaces entirely.

Doorways And Entrances

It will be the last thing you see of your house each morning and the first thing you see at the end of your shift. Your doorway is the threshold into your world. It can and should shine with the same character as the rest of the house. You could consider a veranda or porch that extends your home out into nature and may also provide a welcoming seating area during sunnier days. Or perhaps you may want a door with integrated technology such as a smart lock or video screen to create a sense of security and cutting edge design. Think as well about how practical those entrance spaces are. If you use them as a dumping ground for coats and shoes, is there a way to arrange them neatly or a place to store them like a cupboard or coat stand? Remember, this will be the first impression of your home to any guests. Think about what you want to communicate about yourself through this design.

Get Rid Of Your TV

Banishing the screen from your household may not seem like a drastic makeover idea, but it can allow you to reconfigure your living space. If you spend most of your time watching media via tablets, cell phones, or laptops, do you need all your seats to point towards a screen? Can you make the space more social or intimate or even choose a new focal point such as a fireplace or bay window.

Ask yourself how you want the whole home to feel when you enter it, don’t only think about each room in isolation. When it comes to home makeovers, remember creativity is key, don’t be afraid to challenge conceptions and be ambitious.
