Add a splash of color
Adding a splash of color to a room can instantly give it a whole new feel. You can be as bold as you want to be and have fun experimenting with different shades and tones.
You might choose to paint a room a new color, or perhaps just make one feature wall. This is the kind of project that you can complete within a day or two and then feel like you have a brand new room.
If you would rather not be getting the paintbrush out, you can add color with new soft furnishings, accessories, ornaments and candles. You might choose to ensure you have fresh flowers as a centerpiece to your room, and you know that they will always make you smile when you walk in.
Create a picture gallery
Perhaps you could create a picture gallery in one of your rooms, throughout your hallway or hang prints all of the way up the staircase.
Before adding a picture gallery do paint or touch up the wall if need be so that you won’t be needing to take your gallery down anytime soon.
This one requires some planning and you will want to think about the style that you want. You could go for sleek and modern, with quite a uniform geometric design or you might favor higgledy piggledy with vintage frames. You will also want to decide how big the gallery will be, or whether you would like it to expand over time with new additions.
The subject of your gallery can have any theme. It could be filled with motivational quotes, your family photos, pet art or your favorite prints. You could go for a mixture of all of these things and just make it a wall of all of those things that you love.
Switch your rooms around
Have you ever thought to do this? It is a tricky one to do as we are so used to living in our homes as we do, so the idea is that you stand back and look at it as though you were a new buyer. What could you do with the space? Where would you place the furniture?
If it is possible, take the furniture out of the room or rooms that you plan to switch around and then view the space when it is empty. How would you like to use it going forward? Could the sofas be in a different place or the table be turned a different way?
As you start to put furniture in the room, place it in different positions and play around with the possibilities. You can do this just within one room or by changing the purposes of two or more rooms.
This one is great to do as it costs you absolutely nothing and yet often feels like the biggest change.
