How to Host an Epic Christmas Holiday Party

Hosting an epic Christmas Holiday Party is not only fun for you and all your friends, but easy to do. All you need is good food, good drinks, and fun games! This year I threw a Christmas Party and created a yummy charcuterie board, a delicious spiked punch, a festive holiday cocktail, and planned 5 fun holiday games. Take a look at my party to be inspired to host your own epic Christmas Holiday Party!

Holiday Party Food

For this holiday party I invited my guests to bring one appetizer to share, but I like to offer an assortment of appetizers as the host. Firstly, I always create a charcuterie board. With lots of nibbles in one place, its a fun and festive staple for holiday parties. You can see a step-by-step tutorial on creating your own festive charcuterie board here.

Other fun and festive appetizers to serve include a snap pea and tomato veggie tray in the shape of a Christmas wreath, and tomato caprese salad shaped like a candy cane.

For the kids at the party I like to serve non-messy finger foods like chex mix, a kid-friendly charcuterie board, and sliced apples with grapes.

For dessert, something festive is always fun to serve. For this holiday party I served gingerbread cookies I decorated with my kids, you can get the recipe for these Easy Gingerbread Cookies here.

Holiday Party Drinks

It is always fun at a holiday party to serve an extra fancy drink, and a punch that can feed a crowd. For this party I created an easy but fancy holiday cocktail that looks like a winter wonderland. You can find the the recipe here: Vodka Holiday Cocktail!

In addition to this festive cocktail, I created a yummy spiked punch that can feed a crowd. This easy to create punch uses bubbly, vodka, and juice. You can view the recipe by clicking here: Festive Spiked Punch.

Holiday Party Games

To entertain your guests you should plan on a variety of fun games. Some of my favorite holiday party games include the plastic wrap ball game, holiday trivia, unwrap the present with mittens game, and minute to win it games like candy cane pick up and marshmallow chopstick challenge. For a detailed description of each game head to my post on the 5 Best Holiday Games.

Of course, with games comes prizes! I bought enough $1 store light up necklaces for each kid and let them all win one by playing the minute to win it games. For the adults, I only awarded prizes for trivia (the plastic wrap ball game and unwrap the present with mittens game have prizes built in). The prize for the wining trivia team was a coffee mug with hot cocoa, candy, and a chocolate spoon!

For the toddlers at the party I created a simple Snowman Play-Doh Winter Busy Box. You would be amazed how long play-doh with some fun items added in can entertain a toddler!

Holiday Party Decor

It’s just not a Christmas party without some festive decor! I enjoy going with homemade decor for my DIY parties as it just makes the whole event seem more authentic. You could even use some Printable Welcome Signs and customize them to your holiday event or theme. Drape fairy lights across the room with little festive red and gold tealights to make the room glow! And don’t forget the Christmas tree with its twinkly lights and classic decorations to make everyone feel like the holiday season has arrived.

Once you have all your basis covered, your friends can arrive and it is time to enjoy the party!
